Tap that line — or ⚙ Change these options — to paste a new roster, load a saved class, or back them up. You only do this once: the Which picker row below stays on screen, and the spinner, groups, teams and seating all run off that same list.
↔ Move this class between the Randomizer and the Pod Generator
Or bring one back — class lists you saved in the Pod Generator or Roster Hub:
Both tools keep their classes in this browser, so a roster you build in one is available in the other. Nothing is uploaded and nothing leaves your computer.
1
Paste your class list
One name per line, or separated by commas — extra blank lines and stray spaces are ignored.
How do I get my class list from myRJ or Canvas?
Get all your classes from myRJ at once:
1. In myRJ, open any class and go to Roster → Run Roster/Student Reports → Manual Attendance Sheet - By Teacher And Section.
2. Set Section to All, then choose View/Export → Excel.
3. Open the downloaded file. Click the letter A above the first column to select the whole column, then press Ctrl+C.
4. Click in the box below and press Ctrl+V.
5. Your classes appear as a list. Tick the ones you want, rename them if you like (for example 2RW), and press Save. Each one becomes its own class; everyone is never loaded as one big list.
Step-by-step guide in the Canvas PD course
Or copy from Canvas or myRJ instead: open one class's Canvas People page, its Canvas Gradebook, or its myRJ Roster tab. Scroll to the bottom so everyone loads, press Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+C, and paste below. Only student names are kept.
Pasted from a roster? It gets cleaned for you
Paste straight from myRJ or Canvas — headers, blank rows, emails, parents, grades, Last, First (Preferred) '27 and the class year are all handled.
🔒 Names never leave this computer. Why it’s safe
This protects student privacy. Your roster never leaves your computer. There is no account and no upload — the names stay in this browser, on your machine. RJ Ed Tech never receives them, never stores them, and cannot see them. Pasting your class list here does not share student PII with anyone. If you would still rather not use full names, first name plus last initial works just as well.
Would rather not put a roster in at all? Pick Without Names at the top of the page picks a student in every group using question cards — no list required.
2
Load the names
Puts the class into the picker so you can spin, group, team, or seat them. You only load a class once. A Which picker row appears below with all five — Spinner, Single Name, Lineup, Groups & Teams, Seating — and every one of them uses the class you just loaded. Nothing to set up again.
3
Save it so you never paste it again
Give the list a name like Period 1. It turns into a button below — one click loads the whole class, every time you open the Randomizer on this computer.
Your saved classes — click to load, ✕ to delete
No saved classes yet. Paste a list above, press Load Names, then Save as Class — it will be waiting for you tomorrow.
4
Back it up — or move it to another computer
Download one small file that holds every saved class. Keep it in OneDrive, or restore it on your laptop, your classroom computer, or a new browser to get all your rosters back in one step.
Saved classes, starred cards, your own cards, and saved decks are stored in this browser only. Clearing your browsing data, using a different computer, or switching browsers will lose them. Download a backup file and keep it somewhere safe — you can restore it here on any device.

Who you have not called on
The class works toward one shared total — nobody is ranked against anybody. The list on the right is just for you: it is the question the random picker cannot answer on its own, who have I not gotten to. Stored in this browser with the class, and never shown to students unless you show it.
Switch any time — the class you loaded stays loaded. Spinner animates the pick on screen, Single Name is instant, and Lineup, Groups & Teams and Seating split the whole class at once. Projecting for the room? ⛶ Fullscreen blows the names up to fill the screen.

Cards say
Picks one student in every pair or group at once, using something true about them. Draw a card, read it aloud, and whoever it lands on does the move.
Language · Idioma · Langue
Switches the whole Randomizer into Spanish or French — the cards, the setup steps, the pickers, all of it. Student names are never translated.
Working in
Groups and Pairs pick one student inside each group you already have — only the wording changes. Make groups is different: it gives the whole class one instruction that sorts everybody into new groups.
Which cards to draw from
Quick cards settle in one glance — reach for these when you just need somebody talking about the question on the board. Conversation cards are worth a minute and make a good warm-up. Or narrow it to one topic.
What the picked student does
Goes first and Goes last set the order for the whole group. Sits out flips it — they are the one who doesn't.
Your question (optional)
Type it once and it stays on every card you draw, so students see who is talking and what about.
Your own cards
Backup
Saved classes, starred cards, your own cards, and saved decks are stored in this browser only. Clearing your browsing data, using a different computer, or switching browsers will lose them. Download a backup file and keep it somewhere safe — you can restore it here on any device.
Tap ☆ on any card to star it. Starred cards become their own deck. Write your own above — finish the sentence "The one who …". Save any deck under a name and it comes back next time.
