Which keyboard do you have?

Pick the keyboard you actually added to Windows — the drills, the hints and the picture of the keyboard all change to match. Not sure which one you have? The check below will tell you, and you can switch back and forth any time.

First · check your keyboard

Already inside LockDown Browser on the wrong keyboard? You are not stuck. LockDown Browser has its own accent picker — a small square button near the top left of the window, with a drop-down of accented characters. It is slower than typing, so treat it as a rescue rather than the plan.

Teacher: load your own word or sentence list

One word or sentence per line. Nothing is uploaded — the list is carried inside the link you hand out, so students never have to type it in themselves. It becomes a drill called “Class list,” usable in Sprint too.

Points reward the characters this class is actually about: an ordinary letter is 10, an accented letter, ñ, ¿ or ¡ is 25. A clean streak raises the multiplier; a mistake resets it.

My progress

The report is one file you can attach to a Canvas assignment. It carries a check code your teacher can paste into the Class leaderboard tab to confirm nothing was edited by hand.

My score code

For a leaderboard, send your teacher this one line — in Canvas, Teams chat, or on paper. It contains your name and your numbers, nothing else.

Type your name above and finish a sprint first.

Class leaderboard · for the teacher

There is no server and no sign-in, so scores do not gather themselves. Have students paste their score code into a Canvas assignment or a Teams message, then paste the whole pile in here. One code per line; extra text around them is ignored.

A note on ranking a class

Typing speed is a motor skill with an objective number, which is the one place a board like this is fairly safe — but a permanent public ranking is still the version of gamification with the weakest evidence behind it. Two ways to use this that keep the fun without the floor falling out for the slowest typist: run it as a single-round arcade score that resets each time, or rank by gain over a student’s own first score rather than raw speed. Every student’s personal best is already tracked privately on their own machine, with no ranking at all.

Every Spanish character, and how to reach it on the layout you picked above. Switch layouts at the top of the page and this table changes with it.

Turning the layout on

A dead key does nothing at first — that is correct. It sends an accent and waits. The accented letter appears when you press the vowel. To type the bare accent mark, press the dead key then Space.
